My letter to Indian Cricket Team
Now the situation has changed drastically. But still i m daring to put this letter here. The time was of 2007 when our team had lost very badly in world cup. I used to go at AMA for a course where we were given the topic on Indian cricket. So i had put all my anger by jotting down this letter but in a humorous way. I really enjoyed writing the letter. Hope u all would like it.
To,
The Great Indian Cricket Team,
Whats up? First of all i would like to congratulate you people for losing in WI. You people have done wonders there. To get thrown out of world cup within a week of commencement is not a small thing. And that too for a team like India!!!! Its one of your biggest achievements my tigers. We,Indians, never even dreamt that you people will create a record in such area too. Really speaking, after losing the bangladesh match, there was a hope that u people are going to do something unimaginable. And u did it. Indeed u r BLESSED.
Now lets forget about sports. Tell me where did u people travelled these ten days in West Indies(WI). You have to take care that due to cricket ur travelling plans shouldnt be affected. You r baazigars for us as by losing, u won ur opponents hearts. And we all know "haar ke jeetne wale ko baajigar kehte hain". Well said shah rukh.
As this assignment is complete, dont waste your time and start shooting immediately for your ads. Do take care that rest of the time is spent for creative work like rampwalk in fashion shows etc. U people are multitalented. Make use of that talent. And u hav one more talent of moving between places secretly. U people went with such celebration and grand publicity, but came back so suddenly that we even dont know when did u all came back.
Dont be afraid of the public. Make sure that the scapegoat has been decided and put the blame. It is good to see the way chappel and seniors are passing the buck on each other. Great yaar. Only thing that seems strange in this episode is that why kapil dev,who has nothing to do with your performance, is asking for apology on ur behalf. At the same time i want to congratulate BCCI too for taking the right stand by refusing to take any responsibility for ur defeat.
The only thing that i m sad about is that from now onwords our beloved Greg chappel wont coach you again. His resignation has come as a shock to me. Oh our luck!!!! After his departure, the Indian cricket would be so lonely. Without him, who would fight with the cricketers? Who would insult the media persons? Still i would say he tried his best. In a way he has completed his mission. At this fortunate moment i would like to congratulate him too for ruining career of players like Pathan, Harbhajan. We have lost our favourite villain after his resignation. And the thing that we will miss the most will be ur gestures(specially ur middle finger shown in kolkata).
Look, now that you people have been losing for years, do also win sometimes yaar. I want you to play against bermuda only for next two years. Chances of winning are high. But thats only for two years. I hope that we will reach the second round in next to next to ---- world cup.
Your obedient Indian supporter.
P.s. Please forward this letter to mr.chappel. Give the letter to his partner cum secretary Mr.Kiran More and he will make sure it reaches him.

A.R.Rahman- Mozart of India

Statutary warning: This will be my most biased blog ever :-D . I promise i wud be neutral in any other subject but in case of a.r.rahman i m sorry, i cant help but be biased. Infact i love to be biased in this case. ;-)
This is a special post for a very special person. His birthday is on the 5th of jan and i cudnt hav found any more proper occasion to write for him. I had always wanted to write him and whenever i had thought of topics for my blog, the first subject that came to my mind was my maestro A.R.Rahman. Each and every person has an idol or an inspiration to look after. For me its a.r.rahman. I never think for writing a post. I just write what comes to my mind instantly. But here i want to think and
then write out of my respect for him. I cant be careless in writing about my idol.
My fascination with rahman sir's music began when i was around 10. Roja's sound track had released around that time. The music hit me immediately. So peaceful, so calm and so divine at the same time. The music that takes u to the another world. I was eager to know the music dir but there was no need to search as the name instantly hit upon newspapers, channels. Then followed Bombay, rangeela and the admiration for him cemented. A special characteristic in his music is that most of the time his music would have a part in song that would blow u out. In novel "Godfather" there is a term called "thunderbolt" for an experience in which u get blown out by watching an exotic girl. If there is anything equivalent for that in music, i would say this is that.
Now till these movies i was his fan but not die hard maniac that i m now. Other movies followed and in between there was a dip in my admiration towards him. But then followed dil se, taal and lagaan. Everybody knows how popular are these tracks. But the movie that made me a crazy person who started worshipping his music was "The legend of bhagat singh". With this movie i came to know of one more quality of this genius. He is so extraordinary in giving background music. Watch the movie and u will come to know that an excellent background music is waiting for u. After listening the songs and then watching the movie, everything was over for me. It descended to me that this guy is a genius and blah blah blah(plenty of words there to explain his music). The only thing left for me was now to keep waiting for his more and more movies.
Now in between i would like to share my experience to show his excellence in producing divine music. It was the time when saathiya's trailer was aired for the first time. I distinctly remember that the time trailer was being shown, i was not in good mood due to some reason. But when the tune of the song saathiya began to play, i forgot everything and all of sudden, all the positive thoughts came to me and i started feeling so relaxed. That incident just made me realize how powerful his music is.
Still there were more qualities of ARR that i hadnt discovered till then. After some time i realised that he is such a great singer too. Now this feeling came to me when in some of movies, he didnt sang at all. U realise the importance of something only when it lacks. But the most important thing that struck me was this person's honesty and humbleness. Ever after winning so many accolades, awards and wooing the world all over, he feels that he is just doing his work and credits GOD for his
success. He is a great human being at the same time. We see a lot of music directors speaking a lot without meaning anything and here is he silently doing his work but his work speaking the most.He gave rebirth to VANDE MATARAM despite several reservations of some people. A patriot by heart, it shows by default in the movies he does.
Now that i have said that i m a maniac, dont feel that's it. Its over. No sir. The madness is just raising his head.;-). Movies like rdb, guru, jodha akbar, jaane tu,yuvvraaj, ghajini have just helped me climbed one step more in this madness. Have just started listening his tamil songs too though i dont understand a single word. I just keep torturing my friends by talking a lot on his music.:-) Again one more experience:- i never had the feeling of trance, but after hearing his "khwaja mere khwaja" of jodha akbar, i had the pleasure of experiencing this feeling too. So pure. I can write endlessly about this maverick, but will have to stop bcos now i m tired of typing. ;-)
Still i would write two more paras. One thing that is said about his music is that nowadays his music doesnt match that of his roja days. My answer to that would be the same people said the same thing before the release of rang de etc. Now they say that his music doesnt match to that of guru, rang de etc. His each and every album is a benchmark. Its just people realise that after his next album arrives.
All can i say in the end is that i just want to hear more and more from him. After havin a teaser of delhi 6 and connections(his album), the future looks brighter. I cant recall if in last 3 or 4 months i hav heard any song on my pc apart from his. That shows his variety, his magic. I used to feel i m his big fan but after going on his fans' community on orkut, i realised i m nothing(forunately). They are so dedicated for him and do so much for causes that he has advocated for. My salute to all of them. On the behalf of them i can just say for his music "KAISE HAME TUM MIL GAE JINDAGI PE AAEIN NA YAKEEN" (I know it sounds melodramatic but cudnt think of anything else.;-)) HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR.

GHAJINI
Okay first things first. Have you ever heard a movie named after its villain??? Even sholay wasnt called "GABBAR SINGH" after its iconic character. But here the name "GHAJINI" raises such an amount of curosity and when u visit theatre, u come to know its a villain. In case of aamir khan movies, u always find something unconventional. Here this was the only thing. Otherwise everything is same that we use to witness in movies of 90's havin all the masala.
Being an aamir-arr fan, i cudnt resist watching the movie. I had already booked the tickets on monday so that i can get back row seat and enjoy the movie. Now talking about the movie, it has no logic. Yeah it sounds strange that an aamir khan movie doesnt hav logic bt here thats the case. Bt the plus point is that u dont get the time to think about the logic. The film is so fast that u hardly hav any time to think about anything. Its a 3 hour long movie bt passes so smoothly u cant believe it was a 3 hour movie. good job done by director.
Talking about the cast, aamir rocks as usual. He doesnt get much to talk but his eyes speaks so much. His expressions are like canvas of pictures ranging from that of an injured tiger to that of a man who knows nothing about him within a second. Asin is the surprise package of the movie. Pradeep Rawat(yeah the dreaded GHAJINI) suits the role well and due to him we hav got our hindi films villain back. Yeah he belongs to same league who get pleasure hitting people with iron rods for no reason. Villain like him, despite being rich, prefer using rods instead of advanced guns and hence in the end die due to such foolishness. ;). One thing i didnt liked abt the movie was the picturisation of 3 songs in the movie. It seems they were stuffed and so gross injustice was being done to A r rahman's music :(.
Overall movie is a complete paisa wasool. Worth watching once in theatre and lots of time at home.:)
P.S. Hey there was jiah khan too. Hers was the sole character in movie who helped both the villain and then the hero for terminating their enemies. gosh wat luck she has!!!! She luckily got away from both of them as villain died and hero cant recall anything after 15 min. :)

VIVAS
I think the best time for a professor to feel his/her supremacy is during the time before and during vivas. A whole herd of students just keep searching them for checking of files and pleading them to sign it. Who wont enjoy that? After all in the whole year only twice u come to know that yes "I AM THE LECUTRER OF THE COLLEGE". cos otherwise students with due respect bunk the lectures simultaneously. The scenes r comic. The teacher enters the room and behind his back all r leaving. By the time he looks back half of the class has disappeared as if some magic took place. Sometimes when teacher warns that he wud make sure they have problem in attendance, more students leave the class that nobody is above them
But the same students during vivas plead to the lecturers to sign their file and then MR.LECTURER feels yes i m the king of this college. The student talks to them with all due respect and yeah i m not joking. Its like these teachers hav given so much to us.
Now talking abt vivas, its another story altogether. The kind of answers we say make me laugh, forget the teachers. I cant belive how we all can say such innovative answers in such heat of time. Once when we were giving answers and felt that we hav made our teacher fool, she said " tum log kitni confidently gappe maarte ho." Ahh and we felt we made it. That used to happen initially bt nowadays they just butcher us. First they ask high level question that is not from book and then they just keep smiling to show how despite being on verge of completion of graduation we know nothing.
But thankfully i was done with my vivas for the last time in college yesterday. the humiliation is over. I cant believe i created a spectacular record of not running most of my programs in practicals. :P And last bt nt least i got reminded of one incident which i wud like to share. During practicals once, one of us got a program to run which required mouse(in pc) to be used. The guy told supervisor "sir there is no pc in this computer. i wont be able to run the program". The supervisor replied irritatingly "HAAN TOH BINA MOUSE KE RUN KAR DE YAAR( DO IT WITHOUT MOUSE IN THAT CASE)". Imagine somebody frm the department saying this. Bt thats how our education system is. wat else can one expect.

Screwing up big time
How do u feel when u r giving an important exam and nearby a baraat is going on celebrating and singing loudly with due help of band "yeh desh hai veer jawano ka".. Do u identify with that veer jawaan. Sadly all of us sitting in the class room felt like that bcos it was courageous to write an entrance exam(JMET) with songs like these going on. And mind you, these were those z grade songs that u might be hearing after several years. Memories revisited but at the wrong time.
And to top that, i screwd up by attempting only 74 questions out of 120 in a very easy paper. After i came out, i felt "yaar chalo sahi ho gaya badiya hain." But soon smses started flowing in and look wat. No body attempted less than 80. wow. so who's the loser?
Once again same pattern was being followed by me like in previous papers of CAT and IIFT. U start with hope that today u r going to crack it, u make urself feel that u r going to do it. While solving the paper, u feel great its going so smoothly. In the end when u come out and see the answer key within the evening u feel "shit. thts nt wat i wanted to happen i have missed it again". But cheers to murphy law. Mr. murphy has done a great favor to us to find excuse.
Now JMET has also passed and lying in next sunday is SNAP. lets c wat happens there. Till then its back to same routing searching for previous year SNAP year(which i wont be getting any way as they take it back after xam :)) most of the time would be wasted in listening music and gossiping. ahh wat pleasure. now i shud resort back to those activities.bye.
